When my manager assigns me the task of finding a new wake up call service for our CEO, I think, how hard can this be?
Answer: practically impossible. It turns out that no wake-up call company in the world will take him on as a client. They’ve all had enough of his surly personality.
So in an effort not to lose my job, I secretly start making the calls myself, every day at 4:30 am sharp. OMG yes you read that right—four freaking thirty in the morning.
Confession: I’m not the nicest wake-up-call girl at that hour. Hello! Who wakes up before the roosters are even crowing? Luckily he doesn’t seem to mind my get-your-ass-out-of-bed attitude.
Day by day we’re becoming closer, and the calls start turning hot, like pay-by-the-minute hot and oh-so-wild. Snuggled under the covers with the moonlight streaming in the windows, we divulge our secrets to each other, but the one thing that he can never find out is that the sexy vixen who wakes him up every morning is just the lowly assistant who wears frumpy dresses. I can only imagine his disappointment.
Now he wants to take me out on a date and he’s scouring Manhattan to find me. He’s an overachieving billionaire bent on a mission. How much longer can I keep up this charade
I saw this book a few weeks ago and I hesitated without any reason. Then I saw a good review on this book in romance group and decided to give it a go – in audiobook! of course.
The narrators are Jason Clark (who I know from previous titles and his narration is amazing!) And Neva Nevarre (it’s the first time I heard her and she’s really good!).
Lizzie – Elizabeth Cooper is forced to be the wake-up call of the company boss.
Theo – Theodore Drummond is surprised by the attitude in which Lizzie chose to wake him up at four-thirty in the morning!
First of all, I will say something about the narrators. So, as I wrote at the beginning, this is the first time I am listening to a book that the narrator Neve narrates in it, but if you ever want to understand how good, different and special an audiobook is – try this one because of this narrator. There are passages that she imitates Sasha, her direct boss, when she talks about Mr. Drummond and believe me – you want to hear it! That was great!
Apart from the good story and the character of Lizzie – Neva makes the character iconic. I absolutely enjoyed her narration!
There is nothing to talk about Jason because it is known that his deep voice and his self-confident speech work perfectly with the character and after you listen to an audiobook with him – you would want to give him the yellow pages to read to you. Just to listen to him!
Back to the book itself – the plot was original and unique – and I really liked it! Yes, there were some small and predictable clichés but it was good! It was a book that had a bit of humor, a bit of seriousness, a lot of warmth and sexyness and of course, a beautiful love that develops between the tough and serious scientist and the witty and fun baker (shhh, not telling you more).
The characters were good. Their background stories weren’t boring and so predictable as in any other book!
The sub-characters – Willow (Theo’s sister), Sasha and Mia – sat perfectly in the background and plot.
My author’s first book and I’m already moving on to the next book in the series – because it was just real fun!
