Yael's Library (yaelbooks.com) is operated by Yael Waknin, an independent literary editor and book reviewer. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information, in accordance with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, including Amendment No. 13.

2. Information We Collect
- Newsletter sign-up: name and email address, provided voluntarily so we can send you updates.
- Contact form: name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Automatically collected: basic analytics data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referrer) — only if you consent to analytics cookies.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to.
- To respond to messages you send through the contact form.
- To understand how visitors use the site and improve it (analytics, subject to consent).
4. Legal Basis
We process personal data based on your consent (newsletter, analytics cookies), on the need to respond to your request (contact form), and on our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the website.
5. Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of service providers:
- Mailchimp — to manage and send the newsletter (name and email).
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics, loaded only after you consent. Google may process this data in the United States under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).
We may also disclose information where required by law or legal process.
6. Storage and International Transfer
The website and any personal data submitted through it are hosted on servers located in the European Union (Lithuania). Storage within the EU is permitted under the Israeli Privacy Protection Regulations (Transfer of Data Abroad), 5761-2001, because EU member states are subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which ensures a level of data protection no lower than Israeli law.
7. Data Retention
Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics defaults. You may request deletion at any time.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies required for the site to function, and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) that load only after your explicit consent via the cookie banner. You can decline analytics cookies without affecting your use of the site, and change your choice at any time.
9. Your Rights
Under the Israeli Privacy Protection Law and Amendment 13, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information, to object to processing for direct marketing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, please use our contact page. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Security
We apply reasonable security measures including encrypted transmission (SSL/TLS) and restricted access to data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.
11. Children
This site is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
