Questions for authors Max Monroe

1 – Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Monroe: I have wanted to be a thousand different things (professional ballerina, flight attendant, magician, etc.), but I have always written because it allows me to experience all the things with a significantly less demanding amount of training. Ha! Though, if Julliard called me tomorrow to dance, I would drop everything and head to New York! (Sorry, everyone!)

Max: Surprisingly, I never thought I would be a writer. I wanted to be many different things, including a school crossing guard (when I was in kindergarten), a gymnast, a doctor, and a meteorologist—I even spent four years getting a degree for this one—but in the end, writing is a part of my life I can’t imagine being without. Make no mistake, though, if I had six more inches of height and a background in professional dance, I would be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader in a heartbeat!

2 – When you start a book series – do you know the couples who will appear in the following books? Do you know what the plot will be?

Max & Monroe: When we write in series ,we always know the couples and a loose idea of the plot, but we’re also careful not to box ourselves in to a specific outline. We do better with a little wiggle room.

3 – Did you write a book and decide not to publish it?

Max & Monroe: No. We have many books that have been partially written and then stopped, but they have been sidelined due to timing or the inspiration for other projects taking precedence. Truthfully, we get antsy to share any complete stories with our readers, and a long wait would kill us!

4 – By what do you choose a cover for a book?

Max & Monroe: Oh, boy, covers are so tricky and fun at the same time! We are looking for a certain vibe that encompasses the characters and is on brand for us, and obviously, the hotter the eye candy, the better

5 – Where did you get the inspiration for the stories?

Max & Monroe: Quite literally, anywhere and everywhere! Social media, a music lyric, a line in a movie, a joke our husbands tell. Anything can spark inspiration and get the creative mood flowing. The tricky part is making ourselves wait until we have another opening in the schedule to start!

6 – Who is your favorite couple you wrote about?

Max & Monroe: We love them all, but our first couple, the infamous Kline and Georgia from Tapping the Billionaire, will kind of always be untouchable because they started it all! We mean, that’s when we realized the magic of writing together!

7 – How long does it take you to write one book?

Max & Monroe: It takes us roughly four to six weeks for a rough draft and another couple to actually be funny. Haha!

8 – What is your favorite genre to read?

Max: My favorite to read is romance—shockingly, ha!— but I do enjoy thrillers and mysteries as well. I just like to read books that make me feel good most of the time.

Monroe: Romance for sure, but every once in a while, I will read suspense or a thriller to cleanse the palate. Max and I have very similar taste—which is probably why we’re besties! Haha!

9 – If you could turn one of your books into a movie – which book would you choose?

Max & Monroe: This one is so hard to answer because we would love to see any of our books made into a movie! Give us a call, NETFLIX! We’re not picky. (wink wink)
