1 – Have you always wanted to be a writer?
I knew I wanted to be a writer when I was in 3rd grade. I had tis amazing teacher who cultivated the desire I had to create by allowing me freedom in the assignments to explore poetry and re-writing fairytales. After that, I knew it was something I wanted to do. And plus, as a teenager I wrote really bad poetry lol!
2 – When you start a book series – do you know the couples who will appear in the following books? Do you know what the plot will be?
Usually, when I plot out a series I know the first two couples, but sometimes, the side characters tell me otherwise. For example, Love Always, Wild was supposed to be a standalone, but Anders and Ethan had other ideas.
3 – Did you write a book and decide not to publish it?
Not yet, I do have several unfinished novels, but I plan to get back to them. I usually will put a novel to the side if I am not feeling the characters at that time.
4 – By what do you choose a cover for a book?
I love choosing a cover that means something or has a special meaning for what’s inside. Sometimes though you have to be careful from a marketing standpoint because even though the cover is beautiful it might not fit the market it’s intended. Which is hard because I want so much, to share my work. So I am grateful to get to create special editions.
5 – Where did you get the inspiration for the stories?
Every book I have written has a piece of my personal history. I tend to infuse some of my own life or personality into my characters, and in a way, writing their stories I am able to feel safe in telling my own. But sometimes, a song, or a moment will inspire an entire book.
6 – Who is your favorite couple you wrote about?
GAH!!! This is too hard hahahaha. I would have to say maybe Camden and Royal from Let There Be Light.
7 – How long does it take you to write one book?
4 to 6 months. Sometimes if I am fast 3.
8 – What is your favorite genre to read?
Queer Fantasy.
9 – If you could turn one of your books into a movie – which book would you choose?
Either Let There Be Light, or my newest book, The Glow Up which comes out on Sept 22. But I would LOVE if my For Him Series could be a series on Netflix !!! Like how amazing would that be!!
